Nature conservation assistance in Labanoras Regional Park – small work, big benefits for nature

2025-10-20

These habitats are not only beautiful natural places, but also vital for many endangered species. By managing the territory, the volunteers contributed to the preservation of three valuable habitats. Such actions promote the restoration of natural ecosystems, improve the condition of the area, and help maintain a balance between human activity and natural processes. In addition, the removal of woody vegetation creates better conditions for open meadows to remain favorable for rare plant and insect species, and biodiversity to continue to flourish.

Such events remind us that nature conservation is not only the responsibility of institutions, but also an opportunity for each of us to act. The events bring communities together, strengthen connections with the environment, and raise awareness that grassland habitats cannot survive without human care.

Caring for nature is not just about participating in charity events. Each of us can contribute with small but significant actions: by responsibly sorting waste, conserving water, choosing local products, or simply sharing knowledge about the importance of nature conservation. Every conscious choice strengthens our common goal of preserving biodiversity for future generations.

The talk was organized within the framework of the project "Green Stories. Society education and raising public awareness on the importance of flora to humanity" (No. LL-00188). The project is funded by the 2021–2027 Interreg VI-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
