The carnation is a plant native to Central America, widespread in Europe as a more compact type of carnation. It is characterized by smaller, but very abundant flowers.
In manor gardens, carnations are used in carpet flower beds and decorative borders.
They were particularly popular in rural homes due to their long flowering and bright colors. They were often planted along paths or at the edges of nurseries.
In urban areas, use in urban green spaces and balcony boxes.
Today it is one of the most common annual decorative flowers in Lithuania.
