Common starflower is a plant native to European meadows and edges, growing naturally in drier meadows, slopes and roadsides. It is characterized by its light, bell-shaped blue flowers, which add a natural and light touch to the flowerbed.
In manor gardens, daisies were used as background, delicate plants that filled the spaces between brighter flowers.
In rural homesteads, they often grew naturally or were left on the edges of nurseries, where they adapted without much care.
In cities, they were used in parks and naturalistic green spaces, where a wild aesthetic was important.
Today, geraniums remain valued as lightweight perennials.
