TRICOLOR VIOLET (Viola tricolor)

• Annual or biennial
• Decorative, pharmacy
• Blooms: April–September.

Pansy is a European meadow and field plant that has long grown in natural meadows and on the edges of cultivated fields. It is distinguished by its small, tricolored flowers and long flowering period.

In monastery gardens, pansies were used both as ornamental and medicinal plants.

In manor flower gardens, decorative varieties with larger flowers began to be created from wild forms.

They often grew naturally on rural homesteads or were transferred to nurseries for their colorful flowers.

Today, the tricolor pansy is considered one of the most important ancestors of ornamental pansies.
