Ring-shaped challenging cycling route that starts in Palūšė.

The route involves various types of roads, including asphalt, gravel roads, forest and meadow paths.

Palūšė - Antalksnė. The route starts at Aukštaitija National Park Visitor Centre. Go left from the parking lot. Then, turn right after passing a shop. In the Pašakarvio Street, Šilinė village, the road makes a sharp left turn. Near the forest, the gravel road turns into a forest path. Go along this road towards Šakarva campsite. Keep going further, and after 50 m, you will reach asphalted road. Turn right, and pass over the Šakarva village. Shortly, you will reach a crossroad where you should take the right turn, towards Kirdeikiai. After 4.3 km in Kaukiškė village, you will see a resting place lot. After another 1.5 km from the Kaukiškė at a crossroad turn right to the village Antalksnė. There are three sculptures on a hill near the crossroad. After approximately 0.5 km you will reach Antalksnė.

Antalksnė - Ginučiai. Turn right at the crossroad. After another 250 m, turn left and go to the village of Salos. At the crossroad turn left and after 1 km you will reach the village of Salos II. At the approaches of the village, when you see a barn at the right side of the road, turn right and go to a three-way crossroad located by the Linkmenas lake. Turn left and after crossing the channel you will arrive at Ladakalnis. From this point, go down along the same path towards Ginučiai Mound in a northern direction. Turn right after reaching asphalted road. After 700 m, there is a resting place at the base of Ginučiai Mound. Go along the asphalted road from Ginučiai, Papiliakalnė Mound to Ginučiai village. At the three-way crossroad, take the right turn. After 600 m, you will reach the watermill.

Ginučiai - Kirdeikiai - Stripeikiai. After looking around, go back along the same road to the last crossroad, and go straight at the crossroad. After going another 1.2 km, you will see a resting place on the right side of the road and Šiliniškis Observation Tower. From the tower, continue along the asphalted road until you reach a three-way crossroad. Take the right turn at the crossroad. After 400 m, you will see another crossroad. Keep to the main road and turn right again, towards the village of Kirdeikiai. In this village, there is a church you can look over. Outside the town, you will see a sign directing to the Museum of Ancient Beekeeping. Turn right. Go along the gravel road in a northern direction. After entering the forest, you will see a forest road branching off to the right after 150 m, it will take you to Pakasas Watermill. After seeing around the watermill, go back to the main road. Turn right, and go towards Stripeikiai village.

Stripeikiai - Daunoriai. At the crossroad, take the right turn. After passing across the Stripeikiai village, you will see the Museum of Ancient Beekeeping on a hill on your left. After seeing the exhibition, go back to the village Stripeikiai. At the four-way crossroad, turn right and go in the northern direction. After approximately 2.5 km you will arrive at the crossroad in Varniškės village (after turning right you will reach the etnoghraphic village Varniškės II after 1.7 km. After seeing around, go back along the same road, and turn right at the crossroad). Go straight in the northern direction. After 2 km, you will reach Daunoriai.

Daunoriai - Vaišniūnai. At the crossroad, take the right turn. In the village there is a nice church you can look around. After reaching another three-way crossroad, turn right again. Go along the gravel road for approximately 5.5 km. At Vaišnoriškė village, the road diverges. The village is on the left, across the river. After visiting the village, keep left at the crossroad. After 1.5 km, you will arrive at etnographic village of Strazdai. Outside the village of Strazdai, there will be a bridge across the river Būka. After approximately 200 m from the bridge, you will reach a crossroad where you need to take the right turn, towards Šuminai village. in the village you will reach a crossroad where you need to turn left. Keep right at further road forks. After approximately 3 km from Šuminai, you will reach an asphalt road. Turn left at the crossroad. After 600 m, you will reach Vaišniūnai village.

Vaišniūnai - Palūšė. After passing through the village, turn right in the direction of Ignalina. After 4.6 km, you will go out of the forest. There will be a small byway on your right leading along the outer wood. After 0.5 km down this road, you will arrive at Gaveikėnai watermill. Go straight from the watermill through the village of Gaveikėnai. At the end of the village, go straight. On your right, you will see the forest, and farm buildings on the left. After 0.5km, there will be a clearing on your left. Immediately after this clearing you will see a forest road branching to the left. Take this road. After 0.5 km along this road you will reach asphalted road. Turn left. After 300 m, you will see a forest road branching to the right. Go along this road. After 300 m along this road, you will reach asphalted road. After crossing the road, turn right to the bicycle path. Asphalted bicycle path leads through the forest parallel to the main road, and ends in Palūšė.

Šakarva II barrows
 The barrows are located near the channel between Šakarvai and Žeimenys lakes. There are about 40 barrows. The diameter of the mounds is 8-15 m, the height is up to 1 m. The burial mounds were used in the 9-12th centuries.

Parking Kaukiškė
 A place to rest when traveling by car, bus or other road vehicle, this site offers a beautiful panoramic view of Lūšykštis and Lūšiai lakes. If weather conditions are favourable, even the Palūšė Church can be seen from here. Benches and tables are arranged on well-kept grounds. Also, a sculpture - "The Roadworker" by Ignalina's sculptors Jonas Grunda and Raimundas Žievys - stands here.

Antalksnė sculpture ensemble
 "God is" stands on Antalksnė Sculpture Hill. It is a project by three artists for the Antalksnė village community and visitors. In 2007, an ensemble of three sculptures was built: a chanting rooster, the suffering of Christ, and a flowering ladder.

Ethnographic villages: Salos II
 There are two villages called Salos. Both of them are located in a somewhat peninsula between Asalnykštis, Linkmenas, Alksnas and Alksnaitis lakes. The only way to reach this peninsula is from Antalksnė. According to written sources, a large family (the Kudabos) used to live by the border of Salos II. And even now people with the same last name live here. The village is known for its unique architecture and layout, as well as the established Salos cultural reserve. Ladakalnis
 The legendary Ladakalnis is the most famous sight of Aukštaitija National Park. The hill stands at 176 meters above sea level and is part of the Šilinškės Ridge. From Ladakalnis a wonderful panorama of 6 lakes can be seen. It is believed that this hill served as a place for pagan sacrifices to the Baltic goddess Lada - the great Mother. Ladakalnis is declared a geomorphological monument of nature.

Ginučiai and Papiliakalnė mounds
 This 9-12th century archaeological monument was used for defence purposes in the first millennium AD. The mound complex is located in the middle section of the massive Šiliniškės Ridge. The famous Linkmenys castle, which was mentioned in the Livonia Chronicles by H.Vartberge  in 1373, stood here during the 13-15th centuries. Supposedly, the castle was ruled by Mindaugas' nephew in the 13th century. There is a stone at the top, on which there is mention of Lithuanian president Antanas Smetona’s visit here in 1934.

Ginučiai Watermill
 Ginučiai watermill is protected as the nineteenth century technical monument. In the northern part of the building is the Museum exposition, and the southern part has double-guest rooms with modern amenities. They can accommodate up to 8 people. Double room costs € 35 per night.  In the cozy kitchen you can prepare your own meals or have lunch at the cafes during the summer. The mill is equipped with a sauna, where you can relax and cool down under the waterfall. There is a possibility to rent a boat.

Šiliniškės observation tower
 The Telecommunications tower was built in 2004. Its height is 60 m. The observation platform is 30 m above ground level. It provides a panoramic view of about 280°.

Kirdeikiai
 Kirdeikiai is a village on the western edge of the Park. A library is located in the multifunctional center of the settlement, in which interactive exhibits are held. Also, there is a museum exposition, where you can get acquainted with the local famous people, see the traditional things that were used in everyday life. The Church of St. John the Baptist was built and consecrated in 1927. The building is characterized by eclectic architecture. Near the church, at the bank of Pakasas Lake, there is an ensemble of wooden sculptures.

Ancient Beekeeping Museum
This is one of the most visited and most interesting places in the park. This museum opened its doors in 1984, and since then it is well-known not only all over Lithuania, but even outside of our country's borders. Even the bees of our former president V. Adamkus have found shelter here. A few years ago the museum was temporarily closed for reconstruction, and last July it opened its doors for visitors once again. The staff of the museum will tell you all about the history of beekeeping in Lithuania. Children will be able not only to taste honey, but also to have fun in the playground....

Varniškės oak
 Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur). Trunk girth - 5.7m. Height - 22 m. Age - approx. 400 years. It is said that during war time local people hid sheep and lard overnight in the tree trunk.

Daunoriai St. Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church
 Extremely religious 82-year-old farmer from the village, Justinas Vitkaukas, donated 39 ha of land for the future chapel in 1925. The chapel was built in 1926. The church itself is reminiscent of folk architecture, as it is a rectangular, single-towered and modern style building. The interior of the church was designed in 1935. The main altar is in art deco style, which is uncommon in Lithuania, with the Heart of Jesus sculpture by a Lithuanian sculptor Bernardas Bučas. Ethnographic villages: Vaišnoriškė
 In the 18th c., there was a pub in place of Vaišnoriškė. It stood near the old highway of Tauragnai - Breslauja. In the 19th c., homesteaders began to settle in this place. Currently, Vaišnoriškė is a dispersed village of 4 homesteads. The arrangment of the village is rather compact and the homesteads are arranged on the left coast of the river Būka.

Ethnographic villages: Strazdai
 In the 18th c. the village was mentioned by Balošekulis name, where the family of Jurgis Strazdas used to live. In the mid-20th c., the steads were divided into seperate lots. Thus started the formation of the scattered village.  On 11 April 1951, 7 partisans from "Bear's" special team of Vytautas Command led by Balys Vaičėnas - Liubartas were killed in Strazdai village. A monument was put up in memoriam of these partisans.

Ethnographic villages: Šuminai
 In historical sources Šuminai village was first mentioned in 1784 by the name Pabaluošė. It is believed that the first homestead appeared here much earlier, because the village belonged to Ažvinčiai Manor in 1554. The village was also called Užbaluošis, Smalaiškės, Smalgiškės. Later the village was called by the name of the families living. Interestingly, all the inhabitants of the village now have the name of Šuminai. Gaveikėnai water mill
 The watermill was built in the late 19th century. The building itself has one storey, and there is a basement and an attic. A part of the old mill equipment has still remained here. Since 2007, the building of the mill belongs to Vilnius archdiocese.
